How long have you been training in Taekwondo and what got you started?
I’ve been training in taekwondo for 7-1/2 years now. The reason I got started with taekwondo was that it has always fascinated me how people can learn such great things through martial arts and the impact it can have on one’s lifestyle.
Highlights of your Taekwondo success?
The biggest highlight of my taekwondo success was when I began to help the instructors run the class and actually see what it is like to run a class first-hand and how much effort they put in. To be an instructor gives me great pride!
Describe your first black belt grading, and what it took to get you there?
At my first black belt grading I was nervous but calm. As I stretched I remembered everything I did to get there – training 4 nights a week and practicing at home over and over again. As I started my grading I felt confident in myself so I started off strong and finished off even stronger going through my patterns, doing 4 different breaks and 6 different free spars. Once I finished I felt a joy that words can’t explain!
