Introduction into block/reverse punch, twin blocks & front kick, spear finger
— When performing the outer forearm block, students often do not turn far enough to keep the correct width for the forward stance (shoulder width)
* The block is used to defend against a shoulder grab
* The block should be aiming for the elbow joint as this will bring your opponent closer and the reverse punch will be more effective.
* All punches are targeted into the centre of the body.
— I will explain centre line turning as this is repeated numerous times with other patterns. The foot will come in at a 45° angle to the centre of the stance and then the other foot placed into correct position for forward or back stance.
— Moving forward (left foot to right foot) and out for back stance move number 5
— When performing spear finger, both the block and spear finger are done together.
— Twin outer forearm block, raise the arms in a cross formation, slide down the opponents’ arms, twist at the end and break at the elbow joints
— When a kick follows a one arm technique, kick low section (just above the belt).
— When a kick follows a two arm technique, kick chest level.
— All front kicks – the knee has to be higher than the target before execution. The technique requires the ball of the foot to travel straight.
— All blocks are at eye level & all kicks should be held at the end of the technique - Grade 7 – Green Tip Kicking Techniques
