Grade 4 Pattern – Instructor’s Perspective Introduction into inward knife hand, palm block, upward elbow, cross block, twin punch & twin upset, back fist strike, twin inner forearm, pressing blocks, hooking block — Inward knife hand block comes around the elbow and around the wrist and when they block, sit down into the back stance, wrist shoulder height.
— When performing front kick, pick up the knee, foot up flat and push out the ball of the foot.
— Palm strike is at waist level. All palm strikes are at waist level.
— A lot of students place their hand incorrectly for an upward elbow strike (a good description is pretend you are holding a phone to your ear)
— High cross block, demonstrate why the right hand is on top
— Back fist block, demonstrate how to use it correctly
— Pressing block, top hand parallel to the ground at waist height.
